Moda Music

Posted in Your Fashion Fix by Staff on October 13, 2008

I have attended roughly 12 runway presentations over the last two years and each and every one has been uniquely different. What’s of equal meausure to living dolls in lovely clothes is the atmosphere. The hustle and bustle exudes a magnetic romance under the lights and music of the tents. Designers literally ‘stage’ shows utilizing location, props, and other decoration to convey the ultimate story. Plenty of energy is exhausted fine tuning every last second of the ten minute experience and the music is no exception. At their last runway show, Heatherette recruited Lil’ Mama to perform her smash hit ‘Lipgloss’ for a five minute show before the models walked. Myself and just about every other atendee mouthed the catchy lyrics and moved their heads to the beat, some swaying and literally dancing in their seats. Operation Feel Good executed … the crowd gasped and clapped at just about every look … now in a playful mood rather than the frown they entered with … after having to wait in a line that followed the course of the long street and wrapped around the corner during a mild drizzle … they were ready to party and would not be dissapointed by the sassy looks and quirky details. The musical playsit truly set the tone and some could argue that it completely made the presentaton.

Every now and then Vanity Fair’s Society and Style blog writers become privvy to some interesting exclusive info and report about random clever tidbits straight from industry insider like this enumeration of Spring-Summer 09 catwalk music. Check out my fave playlists below.

It’s interesting how some mixes make me want to check out collections I haven’t seen even more while others totally surprise me. Some are pretty horrendously predictable and others I just plain love … the iTunes Store is already up and searching.
